We hit 1000 members today!!! It feels great that so many people have chosen to join the OOTF community since we opened our doors in 2007. Thanks to all for being a part of OOTF and making this such a great group and I hope you have all got as much out of this project as I have.

How to see answers to your posts:
1 - Look for forums which have been posted to since your last visit:

Hi,
Just wondering if there is a way to check the most recent posts on all the different topics. I used to belong to another forum and we had the most recent posts and answers to our posts as an option. Does that exist? I think I am missing some of the posts because they don't come up when I first open the forum. I guess I can dig a little huh? If you can enlighten me I appreciate it....

Hello to all members of OOTF…..Exciting news !
We are very proud and happy to introduce 2 new Moderators at Out of the Fog. We have done this for two reasons. We had some Mods retire and also because of our ongoing growth this whole last year. If our growth continues you can look forward to even more in the future.
Please help us welcome Klarity Bell and 2Bad as our two newest Moderators.
To be as transparent as a forum can be we tried something new. We put nominations out to the membership who had 100 post or more. As you will see all of us were up for nomination under our new rules.
Here is a copy paste of what was visible to those members with over 100 post :
So…Klarity Bell and 2bad….Welcome.
We all look forward to working with you both.

It's time for us to have our first round of Moderator & Admin Elections.
Our Leadership Guidelines doc is here http://forum.outofthefog.net/topic/7378440/1/#new
Nominations are now open for the positions of Moderator, Admin & Site Owner. You can nominate any eligible member by sending a PM to one of the existing Admins any time up until August 14th. Elections will last a week and will happen 2nd half of August.
Since this is our first time to go through this process it might be a little disorganized at times. Please bear with us as we try to get this right.
This forum is visible to anyone having more that 100 posts - designated as a "Senior Member"

The way we came to this decision is different than we used to do at our old Nook.
This time we wanted to be even more transparent and put nominations out to the membership who had 100 post or more. As you will see all of us were up for nomination under our new rules.

The icons next to topics - what they all indicate?
Posted by Buddy (Active Member) at Aug 22 2010, 06:08 AM. 2 comments
Is there a list of the meanings of the various icons (to the left of topics) somewhere? I can't quite figure them all out. I've learned which one means I've posted on a topic, but can't decipher much more. All these little notbooks and arrows and papers and colors and stuff...hrm...so confuzzled.
Is there a chart or something I can reference? TIA.

Notification of Responses?

I've been poking around and wondering if there is a feature to be emailed when a thread you're participating in receives a response. Other boards I use seem to, but I'm not finding it here.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would like to ask the moderators a question about a posting but I don't have permission to send personal messages or email. How can I contact the moderators?
Thanks,

How to use the quote function at OOTF
Posted by Haggis (Admin) at Jul 23 2010, 01:57 AM. 0 comments
Quoting is a little tricky at first but if you try it a couple of times you soon you will be an expert. There are 3 ways to insert a quote...
1. While reading a post hit the "quote" button at the bottom right of the post - this will quote their entire post at the top of your reply. You will have to delete by hand those parts of their post that you don't want to include in the quote.
2. Skip past the "Fast Reply" box at the bottom and press the "Full Reply Screen" button - this will take you to a reply screen that has more features - including a "Quote" button. the quote button just inserts the BBCode [quote] and [/quote] around any piece of highlighted text in your reply.
3. You can type the BBCode yourself using the keyboard - so:
[quote] this is a quote [/quote]
will appear as
Also, if you type =name inside the square brackets after the word quote, that name will appear in the title bar. For example:
[quote=Haggis]Oh dear, still not figured out how to quote here![/quote]
will show up as:
There are more options for formatting posts in the "Full Reply" screen than there are in the "Fast Reply" box that you see at the bottom of each thread, including a "Preview" button that lets you see what your post will look like and give you the chance to change it before it goes live.

using quotes

Hi - sorry if this topic has been posted already, but I am at a loss to figure out the quote feature. It seems when I use it, the whole of the persons post appears at the bottom of the screen, not the portion I selected. What am I doing wrong?
